The history of the University of Colorado, Boulder is marked by the vision and determination of some pioneers who dreamed of improving Colorado’s educational opportunities in the 19th century. In 1876 that utopia gave rise to this university, which began its career with just 44 students and three teachers.

Now, more than 140 years later, the institution has a recognized prestige at a national and international level. Every year more students apply to enroll in the university and experts who pass through their classrooms to impart their knowledge. It is currently the largest educational institution in the state of Colorado and throughout its history twelve Nobel prizes and nine MacArthur scholars have passed through its classrooms or laboratories.

The university offers more than 200 programs of study of diverse subjects that are grouped in seven faculties. Among its most recognized departments are those of aerospace engineering, astrophysics, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, English, business, geography, psychology, music and physics. Its size and research activity have turned the institution into an economic engine of the state of Colorado, where it has an annual economic impact of 2,000 million dollars.

The university’s facilities are divided into four campuses. The main one has an architectural style known as Tuscan Vernacular Revival and a cozy atmosphere, which is highlighted in the small size of the classes, many of them with no more than 50 students. Sports play a fundamental role on campus and the center’s team, the Colorado Buffaloes, has won several titles nationwide. Student life is also marked by the more than 450 student associations present at the university.

ADMISSION

Degree courses

International students wishing to apply for a place in a degree program at the University of Colorado, Boulder must follow the same procedure as American students, but taking into account the specific requirements for citizens of their country of origin. The application must be made through the website The Common Application or the university system itself, called MyCUBoulder. In both cases applicants must attach:

Payment registration fee
Two trials
A recommendation letter
Notes of secondary education
ACT or SAT test
Proof of English proficiency
All these documents are evaluated globally by the university, which takes into account both the academic and the extra-academic merits. However, you should bear in mind that there are some minimum requirements that you must overcome and that vary depending on the faculty.

Postgraduate courses

To apply for a postgraduate course, you must first check the specific admission requirements of the program you wish to study and those that apply to students in your country. If you exceed them you can apply for your place online on the university website. The request must be accompanied by:

GRE exam note
Recommendation letters
Payment of the registration fee
Applications must be completed within the established deadlines, which vary from one master to another.
