The University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) is located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, and is characterized by its innovative and alternative approach to study and research.

Founded just over 50 years ago, in its short life it has become an institution of international prestige that always aperace positioned among the 20 or 40 best universities in the world in the global rankings. At a national level, it is considered a Public Ivy, which is a recognition granted to the best public universities in the country.

UC San Diego has won several Nobel prizes: the biologists Francis Crick and George E. Palade, the economist Harry Markowitz, the chemist Paul Crutzen or the economists Clive W.J. Granger and Robert F. Engle, among others, until reaching a total of 20. One proof of his intense research activity is that in one year he is able to generate more than 200 patents and a total of 1,700 inventions.

In the academic aspect offers about 200 study programs framed in five disciplines: Art, Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences and Science and Mathematics. Of special prestige are the departments of medicine, biotechnology, theater and dance.

The main campus is attached to the beach, which is a focus of attraction for young surfers. Degree programs
